IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE NEW YEAR!
New Year = New Email addresses for Howard-Suamico School District Staff
Starting December 26, 2018 all HSSD email addresses will end a new extension: @hssdschools.org and our website address will also become www.hssdschools.org. During the transition, former email addresses (ending in @hssd.k12.wi.us) will work for a limited time to receive email. Get ready for a new kind of fundraiser!
The PTO will be running a new fundraiser this spring. Raise Craze is an online platform where students set up secure, custom websites where they request donations via email. All you have to do is input the email addresses and Raise Craze does the rest! During the fundraiser, students go out and pay it forward by completing Acts of Kindness for others. Spend time serving not selling! This fundraiser will run from May 1st through the 17th. Additional information and instructions will be coming home before the start of the fundraiser. Questions can be directed to Ashley Balck ([email protected] or 608-369-1085) Raise Craze - How It Works Video — Raise Craze CORRECTION TO THE GETTING READY FOR LINEVILLE SUMMER SCHOOL CLASS:
Getting Ready For Lineville Intermediate School – (Grade 5 and new Intermediate school students) 8:30-12 noon each session. Please sign up for only 1 session. August 20th OR August 21st. Where will my locker be located? How do I work a combination lock? What classes will I be taking? Will I be able to find my classes without getting lost? Activities will include tours of the intermediate school, practicing locker combinations, learning about the intermediate school structure and schedule. Students will be able to meet most of the 5th grade staff so there is a familiar face and smile on the first day of school. At 11 o’clock, adults will join students for a Passport experience giving the students more time to practice getting around and show off what they have learned! This time will also be an alternative “Open House” time allowing for parent(s) to meet teachers and everyone to set up their lockers! Using this time eliminates the need to come during the hectic district Open House night. Students will get a head start and feel much more comfortable transitioning to the Intermediate School by taking this class. (Students should enroll in only 1 session). On April 2, 2019, Scott Jandrin and Jason Potts became the newest elected members of the Howard Suamico Board of Education.
The decision to run for a seat on the Board of Education reflects a commitment to public service and dedication to democracy. A choice to serve in this manner is particularly significant because locally elected officials are closer to the individuals they represent than other policymakers. Public schools carry out one of society’s most important tasks - educating students to become productive, responsible, civic-minded adults who prosper and serve.
As a school board member, one must balance the interests and values of children, parents, teachers, administrators, taxpayers, business leaders, and retirees among others in our school district. Performed with sincerity and thought, service on a school board is a vital public service.
The mission of the Howard-Suamico School District Board of Education is “to enact policies and allocate resources to develop all students’ full academic potential and to promote their social and emotional growth.” Therefore, it is desirable that our board of education consists of members who:
