IMPORTANT BEGINNING OF THE YEAR INFORMATION!
MEDICATION AT SCHOOL:
For the safety of students, medications should not be taken at school unless it is absolutely necessary. Any medication to be taken at school needs to be brought in by a parent with the proper medication forms.
The medication needs to be in the original container, which indicates dosage amount and frequency of medication. These items will be kept in the health room. Students are not allowed to transport medications. Parents need to bring in medications to school and take them home when a student is finished. Medications will not be given to any student without the proper paperwork on file or if the medication is not in the original container. You can print the forms needed by clicking on the links below.
Over the counter Medication: Parent Request & Authorization to Administer Medication
(only form needed)
Prescription Medication: Parent Request & Authorization to Administer Medication
Licensed Prescriber's Request
Inhaler Usage: Inhaled Asthma Medication
(only form needed)
**If you child has a medical condition that our staff should be aware of, it is important that parents contact the district nurse so that an Individual Health Plan can be created. Please contact our school nurse, Ann Spaeth at 920-662-7883 or at annspae@hssd.k12.wi.us
ABSENCES:
When reporting an absence, parents need to call our school's attendance line at 920-662-9808 prior to the start of each school day your child is absent.
Unless an emergency exists, all absences that are for more than 1 full day and not related to illness or injury, require the completion of a Pre-Excused Absence Form at least 48 hours prior to the absence. Click here for a copy of the form. Please note that this form requires both the parent and teachers' signatures.
REGISTRATION AND FEES: If you have not updated your information in Infosnap for this school year, which includes approving field trips, technology, etc, or paid school fees, please do so as soon as possible! iPads will be distributed to 3rd and 4th graders the first week of school. In order for you child to receive his/her iPad and for that iPad to be able to leave the building, 3rd and 4th grade parents must pay the $35 technology insurance fee. You can pay your fees by signing into powerschool at: https://powerschool.hssd.k12.wi.us/public/ or by clicking on the following link: https://www.studentquickpay.com/hssd/ . DROPPING STUDENTS OFF BEFORE SCHOOL: If you drop your child off at school each day, please wait until 8:30 to do so. Drop-off occurs at Door #2 in the front of the building. Because our staff are typically involved in morning meetings, there is no supervision available until the bell rings at 8:35. We appreciate your understanding! PLEASE NOTE: if you are going to walk into the school with your child for drop-off in the morning, DO NOT PARK in the front of school. Please pull into the east lot and walk in with your child. Parking in the front of the school creates big back-ups for other parents. Thanks!
At the end of the day, pick-up occurs at Door #8 (east side of the building). You must come into the building to pick your child up! In addition, if there is a change to your child's drop off or pick up procedure for the day, it is imperative that you let the child's teacher and the office know, as well as Champions if it is applicable. **FOOD SERVICE DEPARTMENT**
