Did You Know? As the Board of Education continues to review the Community Task Force recommendations, we are reminded of their work and insight into our district. The Task Force members expressed surprise at several facts about the Howard Suamico School District. For example, did you know the HSSD tax levy remains at $9.19 per $1,000 of property value for the third straight year; this is well below the state average of $9.97 per $1,000 in 2016-17. This fact demonstrates the Board’s policy of fiscal accountability to the taxpayers of our district. For more information about the Community Task Force report, please view www.hssd.k12.wi.us/referendum. If you have any questions for the Board of Education, please reach out to your team member listed below. |

NEWS FROM OUR COUNSELOR- ALI FOLEY
CLICK HERE to view her brochure and Follow her on Twitter: @MrsFoley16 Hello Parents/Guardians, Suamico Elementary’s Student Council Committee has decided to have our school participate in The Great Kindness Challenge over the month of January. The Great Kindness Challenge is a powerful tool that actively engages students and school staff in creating a culture of compassion, acceptance, unity, and respect. The Student Council Leaders will be leading this proactive and positive bully prevention initiative. Here’s what you’ll need to know: During the month of January the students will hear a brief morning announcement from our Student Council Committee Leaders to announce one small act of kindness that each student should do at sometime during the day. Click Here to view the calendar of events. Most of these acts will be simple (i.e. smile at 25 people) and some will require a bit more effort (i.e. make a thank you note for your custodian). The students will be provided time to fulfill these activities during the school day, it will not be homework however, students are welcome to extend the kind acts while at home. Each student will be strongly encouraged to participate however, it’s not required! There is no need to keep track of these activities. We have made some modifications to this program to make it easier to implement. To find out more about The Great Kindness Challenge you can visit this website: https://thegreatkindnesschallenge.com/ As always, thank you for your support!! Kindest Regards, Suamico Student Council Committee |
