4TH GRADE FIELD TRIP TO MADISON: Although it is quite a ways away, the 4th grade Field Trip to Madison is scheduled for June 1st, 2020. Please mark your calendars! If you plan on attending the field trip with your child, you must complete a background check. Please CLICK HERE and you will be brought to the HSSD webpage where you can complete your on-line application. Please don't wait until the last minute as it takes a while for your background check to be reviewed. THANK YOU!
We have a VERY large supply of lost and found items! When you stop by the school, please come inside and take a look to see if anything belongs to your child. The table is located across from the office. Any clothing that is not picked will be donated to the Howard Suamico Giving Tree.
NEW DONATE LIFE WALK:
Get your sights set for the 8th annual NEW Donate Life Walk on Saturday, April 18th at Bay View Middle School. Again this year, the Bay View Student Council, in conjunction with Donate Life Wisconsin and various local businesses, will be hosting a 2.5 mile fun walk/run to raise awareness for the need for more organ donors and to celebrate the lives that have been made better through organ donation and transplantation. Bay View Student Council’s goal this year is to raise $20,000 and to have over 600 people attend our walk! To do this, they are asking for support of HSSD and the community. Here are some ways that you might consider helping: 1. Register to walk on April 18th. Here is the link to the website where you can sign up: http://newdonatelifewalk.weebly.com/ 2. Like us on Facebook and share the information about the walk: https://www.facebook.com/newdonatelifewalk/ 3. Sponsor a silent auction item -- consider doing it with your department or your team! PTO Meeting 2019/2020 Dates and Times:
Please consider joining our PTO meetings on the following dates and times (all meetings take place in the Suamico library and babysitting is provided).
MUSICAL INSTRUMENT DONATIONS:
School District band and orchestra teachers are seeking used band and orchestra instrument donations. Donated instruments in good playing condition are maintained by the Giving Tree and offered to students whose families cannot afford instrument rental costs. If you have an unused band instrument at home, please consider donating it to the district music department. Donations can be dropped off in the Lineville Intermediate School office. Please contact Mr. Zipperer (band; [email protected] ) or Mr. Wucherer (orchestra; [email protected] ) with any questions. New Visitor Procedure
In order to ensure the safety of our students and staff, the District will now be utilizing the Raptor security software in all of our schools. Visitors and/or volunteers must present their drivers license or a photo id upon arrival in the office. It will be scanned by office personnel, and a badge printed with your picture along with the date and time. This badge must be visible while you are in the building during the school day. If you are dropping something off in the office, or signing your child in or out of school, you will not need to present your id. A new badge will be created each time you visit, so it is important to always have your photo id with you. |

- 1. Provide more unstructured, unsupervised/lightly supervised play for children to learn conflict resolution and decision making skills. 2. Set limits to screen time and social media exposure. Click Here for recommended screen time exposure by age. 3. Give your child age appropriate chores and prioritize contribution to their neighborhood, family, and community. FROM THE SCHOOL BOARD:
HSSD Graduate Profile: Collaborator
Throughout the year, the Board of Education monitors student performance in HSSD Graduate Profile seven characteristics. At the December 9, 2019 Board meeting, we discussed the characteristic collaborator and progress being made to develop our students as helpful and active participants who share responsibility while working toward a common goal. Students have many opportunities to collaborate and be part of teams in classrooms, in music, physical education, and art, in athletics, and in a variety of extra-curricular activities. Through these experiences, they grow in their abilities to collaborate with their peers, as well as adults. Students learn to respect and encourage others, to adapt to changes, and to be reliable teammates. We talked with teachers from multiple grade levels successfully integrating technology into lessons and engaging students in becoming active and social learners, through co-use. When co-using a device, students are working with others to figure out how to navigate the content learning within the software, which can lead to higher-order questioning, predicting, inquiry, and other cognitive benefits from this social construction of knowledge.
Seeing our students intentionally developing HSSD Graduate Profile characteristics is exciting and rewarding because we know they are being prepared to thrive in our complex and rapidly changing world.
