IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE NEW YEAR!
New Year = New Email addresses for Howard-Suamico School District Staff
Starting December 26, 2018 all HSSD email addresses will end a new extension: @hssdschools.org and our website address will also become www.hssdschools.org. During the transition, former email addresses (ending in @hssd.k12.wi.us) will work for a limited time to receive email. We will be testing the new addresses in early January to double check that emails aren’t caught up in recipients’ spam filters. Stay tuned for updates after the holidays.

FROM THE SCHOOL BOARD
“Education then, beyond all other devices of human origin, is the great equalizer of the conditions of men, the balance-wheel of the social machinery…”
Horace Mann
Our students continue to perform academically at a high level. Whether measured against our local districts, the state of Wisconsin or other countries, our students distinguish themselves on a regular basis. One of the keys to this level of success is the support the district receives from our community. When complemented by ongoing, transparent dialogue, the Howard and Suamico communities have demonstrated consistent, heart-felt support for our students, educators and leadership.
While there are many other positives in our district, public education is not without serious ongoing, as well as newer challenges. Perhaps the most long-standing hurdle continues to be the state funding formula that creates million dollar inequities amongst similar districts only miles apart. HSSD in partnership with local legislators have made meaningful progress in solving this issue, but much work remains. From anxiety to depression, a more recent and emerging nationwide struggle is the increased prevalence of mental health challenges amongst students. As a parent and board member I’m proud of the intensive, compassionate approach HSSD demonstrates every day as they tackle this unique challenge head-on. Even amongst the constant balance of success and struggle, I share Horace Mann’s hope, via public education, for future generations.
