Equal parts sporting event and spectacle, dragon boating is a team sport that takes place in a long, colorful boat, similar to a racing canoe. Each 42 foot long boat is propelled by a crew of paddlers, a drummer and steer person. Races take place in heats on a 250 meter course, right off of City Deck.
No experience or athletic ability required. Only an open mind for some mind blowing fun! Teams consist of 20 paddlers (8 must be female), one drummer and a steers-person. Check out the videos on our website to see what the buzz is all about!
Team Registration includes an advanced practice session, a professional coach and steers-person to assist in practice session and event day, all necessary equipment including personal flotation devices, and of course the Dragon Boat. Teams are guaranteed three heats of competition on event day!
All proceeds of the event will be used to fund vital programs and efforts within the Boys and Girls Club. This support will mean that area kids and teens will have access to even more opportunities that ignite their passions, open their eyes to possible goals, and propel them towards a brighter future.
